We love having undergraduates as a part of our church family at St Andrew the Great!

We’ve got lots of things going on for undergraduates – Sunday services, student lunches, small groups – so come along and have a look. All these are great ways to get to know other students and get a feel for whether St Andrew the Great could be the church family for you whilst at Cambridge.

So you’ve got your results, waved goodbye to the classroom, and you’re coming up to Cambridge! Being a fresher is really exciting, but it can also be quite daunting with a new city, new friends and a new course to get used to.

We'd love to help you make the most of your first few months of university, so if you’d like us to know about you, or if there is anything we can help you with, then please drop us an email or message us on our Facebook page. We're really looking forward to meeting you in person!

Student Lunch

Student Lunch runs on Sundays after the 11.30am service. There’s home-cooked food, as well as a chance to catch up with friends, chat about the sermon and meet people from other colleges. We then have a short talk on a topic relevant to our lives – such as friendship, studying, dating, church, the Holy Spirit, depression… There’s plenty of time for discussion in groups and a chance at the end to ask questions to the speaker. We’re all done by 2pm.

This term the dates and topics for the student lunches are as follows;

21st Jan Pornography: from struggle to freedom Rich Alldritt
28th Jan Gospel needs in Asia Denesh Divyanathan
4th Feb History or Myth? The reliability of the gospels Dr Pete Williams
11th Feb How reading C.S. Lewis can change your life Nic Ross
18th Feb Transgender: engaging thoughtfully and lovingly with the issues Chris Townsend
25th Feb 'Spotlight': Union with Christ: entering the story of Jesus I Ben Shires
4th March 'Spotlight': Union with Christ: entering the story of Jesus II Ben Shires
11th March Depression: trusting God in dark times Alex Weston

Small groups

Small groups are at the centre of student life at St Andrew the Great. They provide a great way to get to know Jesus better, benefit from the experience of older Christians, and build deep and lasting friendships.

We meet on Tuesdays 7-9pm in the church building for 'Focus', where we eat together, listen to a talk, and then get into smaller groups. The small groups are led by older members of the church family and are a great way to grow as a Christian as we study the Bible, pray and encourage each other. Please see the church calendar for details on when Focus is taking place, and see below for further information about what is being studied.
